The Korean government has announced that it will extend the current state of COVID-19 social distancing protocols and restrictions until February 6th, 2022, with minimal changes. The new requirements will begin on January 17, 2022.
Should you be visiting Korea during that timeframe, there are three changes to keep in mind. First, at present private meetings are limited to a maximum of four people, however this will be increased to a six-person limit. Second, prior to entering Korea, travelers were previously required to receive a PCR test within 72 hours of departure. From January 17, travelers must receive a PCR test within 48 hours of flight departure. Previously, travelers could use public transportation or special "Covid Taxi" to travel to a quarantine facility or PCR testing facility, but now until a negative PCR test result after arrival, all travelers must use designated quarantine transportation.
