The average number of new COVID-19 cases was 54,367 from April 25th to May 1st, which on May 1st reported 37,771 daily new cases. With the number of new COVID-19 cases decreasing, the government announced to retract the mask mandate for outdoor areas starting from May 2nd. Some exceptions remain, such as concerts, sports events, or other outdoor activities with over 50 participants, where attendees will still be required to wear masks outdoors.
The government also continues to recommend mask-wearing for people with COVID-19 symptoms, high-risk groups, and any outdoor location where it is challenging to keep a 1m distance from others.
